Red Robin #19

This image is specifically why I wish Young Justice Invasion was continuing on DC Nation. Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti have created a fantastic world in which time and loss matter. The writers have acknowledged the reality that superheroes cannot live forever. Old heroes die, young heroes rise, people change, and teams shift. Comic books rarely respect this idea of time and change, but we have already seen it in Young Justice, especially with the five year jump. Robin became Nightwing, Kid Flash and Artemis retired, Aquagirl joined the team and died, Aqualad became an “evil traitor”, and Zatanna and Rocket joined the Justice League. Even merely recognizing the time and date within each episode is a very small yet very impressive detail. Weisman and Vietti have told such a great, progressive story. I would have loved another time jump between season two and three of Young Justice. We would have seen even more introductions, changes, and growth in the Team and the Justice League. Can you imagine if this roster comprised the Justice League after a ten year jump within the show?! I would have been so happy.
